The difference in torque vs. horsepower is not apparent unless you own a lightning and realize that they only rev to 5250 stock. And if your familiar with dyno graphs that is where hp and torque cross. So it is literally not possible for a lightning to make more hp than torque if it is reving to only the stock 5250. But as to why they are SO far apart is because of multiple things like cams geared for low rpm powerband, roots blower that makes lots of power down low but runs out of breath very quickly above 5000 (which just serves to make the gap between hp and torque that much wider), etc.
