I have a 2000 RC, 4x4, S-10, 4.3L the truck is slow as hell. I just got killed bad by my friends 2006 RC, 4x4. I knew he would beat me but I didn't think it would be near that bad by 85MPH you could park at least 5~6 trucks between us, I thought it would be at least close
We went by the scales on the way home his truck weighed 5060lbs with him, and my S-10 weighed 3820lbs w/me. So at 3800lbs, 3.73 with 190HP I should have advantage over his 5000+ LBS, 295 HP, 3.42's. What's up here are these 4.3's just
or is there something wrong with my truck. I didn't get the truck for power but my buddies allways race our beaters, and I don't like being beat like that

Just put a damn v8 in it and quit bitching...best thing i did to my fullsize. Just think how slow it was! ran 16.8's in phoenix. Which sucks, cuz Now that i think about it, on paper, i only picked up .1 in the quarter mile swapping in a v8 haha, im only running 16.7's here in Hobbs NM.

My first run ever with my truck was 10.4 in the 1/8th, that was with intake and hypercrap programmer. My best with that same setup was 10.2. My truck should way about 3300lbs before me.

Thats pretty bad. My ext cab 4.8 went 16.3 pretty much stock and a partially clogged cat converter. A good tune, longtubes, ory pipe, K&N and its running mid 14s with crappy gears. Whats the elevation there? I figured the 4.3 would run pretty strong, what can be done to these things to make them run hard? How well does the 4.3L respond to a tune?

With the mods in my sig I run 9.7 1/8th. I run 8.7 with a 75 shot, which gained 73hp on the dyno and 108ft.lbs. Yes, stock manifolds, stock 1 3/4 inch y pipe that is crushed down less than that from dragging stock cat, through a flowmuster and stock cam.
