Default STS/RADIX grudge match w/timeslip!

03/04 reg cab 1500,5.3,radix,216/224 vinci blowercam, unknown size smaller pulley, recently 2 bar tuned w/ 60lb injectors, walbro pump, caltracs, built trans , 2800 vig,390 gears, Aux coolant cooler for radix, efans, 12" et streets.

2000 reg cab, junkyard lq4, used 60mm sts, vette servo, ebay and me ,42lb injectors, walbro pump, intercooled, stock g80w/342's, 11" et streets, Voodoo boost controller,

The story:
Its nasty hot outside. The sun is beating down hard. The track was fairly greasy. The trucks make a pass on street tires for fun. My friend smokes em most of the way down the track. Six truck length win goes to me. A couple of hours pass. We bolt on the slicks an have our grudge match. We are buddies and ride two hours to get to a track. We both respect each others trucks. If you think the times are bad, they are. Stock firebirds were goin 9.3 instead of 8.90's.

nice comparison, but the two trucks aren't built the same. a 5.3 with a radix and a 5.3 with a STS with all the same supporting mods would be a more accurate comparison.

while technically you did win, you only beat him, his truck beat yours, had he not been sleeping at the light it would be a different story. So even with more displacement and a turbo, it still wasnt enough.

and would have netted a BIGGER "loss" for the STS truck.

I never said it wouldnt have. I was just simply stating that the comparison wasnt that accurate.

I think it's an OK comparison, but not a great one. A 5.3 with a cam is not the same as a stock 6.0, but it's close. I say get some caltracs and more traction and you guys will be real close, since I see a huge traction disadvantage in your times. Get a tq converter and wax him once tration is there.

As for the other guy sleeping on the tree, that doesn't make sense. The times start when you start moving, so the times are what they are regardless of reaction time.

id personally rather have a 5.3 STS than a Radix

the 5.3 was cammed with a built tranny, caltracs, a stall, better gears and most likely a much better rear end than a stock g80

You gotta love that radix torque for movin a heavy vehicle down the track in a hurry...long as you bring traction. Two good running trucks!
