im not commenting on the question that you ask im commenting on how you just told him it must sound like crap. and yes just let him do what he wants to do. i think you should have just left your mouth shut.

He don't ego stroke. If he thinks its gonna sound like crap that's what he'll say. No reason to get all defensive just cuz someone has an opinion.
The way i read it, he was narrowing down possibilities.. It couldn't have been for the sound, and it couldn't have been because of flow. So what else?

I've heard plenty of v6 exhausts and I'm willing to bet it doesn't sound good. I didn't tell him he was an idiot, a jackass, his truck was slow, he is stupid,etc,etc.

94f150, Just so you have something to compare to, my '07 sled cut a 10.39 at 67+ stock. My '05 2wd ran a 9.84@ 71+ stock. That was the best out of 3 runs on both trucks. The turbo and converter did wonders though.
