trying to figure out wether im keeping the 4.8 or going 6.0
had a few questions since a lot of members here are more familiar with timeslips and calculations for racing. trying to figure out wether i can crack decent times after heads intake manifold and live tune or to pick up a long block lq9 i got offered to me for 450 bucks
few months ago i made my first passes down the strip in the silvy, track was about 30 degrees in the sunlight, was just scraped and wasnt prepped due to being opening day and i couldnt get rid of the jitters. after 8 passes best time i cracked off was a .171 r/t 2.328 60" 9.545 1/8th@74.81 and a 1/4 at 14.950@89.40 even with tire pressure dropped, dry burnouts and pussyfooting it i couldnt get the truck to hook no matter what i did.
my buddy whos been racing a while "claims" if i knock off a tenth at the 60" it equivelates out to .2-.3 in the big end? he made it seem like if i got my 60" to a 1.8 id be right in the 13s where i should be? im just trying to find out whats true and whats not, most importantly ive got a set of prc stg 2.5s going on and a tbss intake manifold as well as some other little odds and ends. i was just wondering if you guys felt 13s is doable now or after the heads and intake. if i can crack high 13s on my 35s speed wise my truck is done, and thered be no point in buying the 6.0 since my goal has been made. if anyone could point me in the right direction itd be much appreciated
thanks in advance

I got a 4.8 with full bolt ons 4.10s and a tsp 220 cam ran a best of 14.3 on street tires. I am currently building a 370 for it since im tired of the lack of lowend torque when I have to haul with it. I guess its a personal preference. If you wanna do 13s with a 4.8 just hit it with some nitrous.

oh and i know of a certian 350,000 mile 4.8 that loved a 250 shot of nitrous... just saying.

rs im trying to do it all motor as dumb as that sounds lol, if i can crack a 13.9 on all motor thats honestly all im after lol. figured with the myth on the 60" if i can get even to a 2.0 60" thats right on the edge. my tune is complete garbage but i think shes got it in her...somewhere lol, figured the fully ported heads would probably get me where i wanted to go with the intake manifold, ud's, yella terras etc. i just figured if you guys saw it possible ill keep going with it. as for that 6.0 longblock, i think im gonna buy it anyways in case ever hang the rods out of this or my novas 355. as for traction, i was thinking of some srd assasin bars, and as for the converter im on a spec'd out 10" 4k from torque converter technologies. biggest thing is i dont want to throw a ton of coin into this and be dissapointed, as long as 13s are met id be satisfied but if i cant do it that 6.0s gonna be swapped in real soon lol

Did you send him a data log when he tuned it? Without a wide band or o2 sensor reading you cant even tune fuel its just a big guess, i dont care how good they think they are you wouldn't believe how much even a all stock motor will vary from truck to truck. But timing they will mostly all be fairly close.
