went to track today to test the cal-tracs
because im impatient i decided to go to the track today instead of waiting on my pinion shims to fix my god aweful pinion angle. test and tune started at 3pm and it was hot as mexican food platter outside. i drove to a track 1.5 hrs away so i could actually get some runs in (houston raceway park sux) and everything is looking good (except for the heat). anyways they have weird rules there. he looks in the bed of my truck and sees the hoosiers and says "you know you need a driveshaft safety loop to run those right?" F me! i decide to run on the 555r's and that was a joke. i made 2 passes on the street tires and ended up running 12.8 on the street tires, got fed up and hooked up the slicks anyways. they dont have any tread bars left on them
long story short i wasnt all that happy with my 12.46@108. spinning 1.75 60' times and i smelled like a gym sock by the time i left. i left early cuz of the heat and as soon as the sun hit the ground the temp dropped to 71shoulda stayed but i was annoyed. i still like the cal-tracs. they feel like they are trying to do their job but between my jacked up pinion angle and my wore up hoosiers they just didnt have enough.
on a side not a guy offered me 20,000 for my truck at the track. a serious offer! he took my number and said he would call me this week. sorry but i cannot pass up 20k for my truck. if he calls and has the mula kiss the potatoe truck goodbye. im startin over and going lighter/bigger im thinking a 92 camaro with a 454 and trans brake. or maybe an older box style s10. 1985 style pickup? i duno haha. im thinkin too far ahead.
got a couple street races too. on the way home i waxxed a gt mustang and i hit up a local car show and raced a early model chevelle with a small block 406. i got a fender on him before he gave up it was an extreemly close race though.
didnt mean to turn this into a novel

TX, Nice run. Dealing w/ heat, worn treads, & a track you r unfamiliar w/ all may have led to worse times than u expected. How hot was it when u ran this time vs when u ran 12.1?
Plus, you r still dialing in your Caltracs, right?

im not guna get too anxious until he actually calls. chances are, yesterday was the last time ill ever hear from him.
he was poking around my truck and asked if it was for sell. i replied that everything is for sale for the right price. his eyes lit up haha. before i could say a price he offered 20k. i almost ****! i hope he calls. if it sells, ill prolly just buy a gsxr750 and get outa the racing scene. i blow too much money on this crap.
