Got bored tonight and removed the air box completely, didn't make a damn bit of difference driving around town......How could I have such high torque but just medium HP? I'm starting to wonder if the dyno was whacked. The guy told me to be happy over the hp numbers as he had a 454 chevelle on the dyno earlier in the week and it only hit 334 RWHP and 360 RWTQ The spread is what's bugging me more than anything and why does it plummet so fast?

you won't notice anything driving around when you remove the air box. It would be power over 5000rpm that gets effected. can you feel the truck nose over at 5200? valve springs maybe?

No, driving the truck feels nothing like the graph shows. I feel no loss of power until about 6500 RPM's or so. My valve springs are also patriot dual golds. They should have no trouble staying on the seat with this cam. I'm starting to wonder if the dyno readings were botched. Now that I can confirm my AFR is safe, maybe I should try to find another dyno and just ask for 1 pull to see what it's like on something else. I would like to re-enforce the fact that the truck feels nothing like the dyno graph shows when driving it. I'm not trying to build a dyno queen, nor do I really care about the end numbers since I know how it drives, but I care somewhat why there's such a huge separation from the HP to TQ. This is another members dyno graph (rgvsierra) who had a bone *** stock LQ4 with long tubes and a TR224. Do you seriously think that 6 degrees of duration on the intake valve would increase and broaden the torque and HP moreso than my cam? I doubt it.

According to your graph, by 6500 you're down almost 70HP. If it feels like it keeps pulling then I think something was wrong with the dyno. As far as rgvsierra's dynograph, the TR224 is just a superior cam, that's all. I'd be interested to know if his cam was on a 112 or 114.

His was on a 114 along with mine. My truck will pull like a freight train up to the 6500RPM mark where I have my rev limiter set and kick out, I don't feel any loss of power. That's why I'm wondering if the dyno was funky.......

How safe is it to be revving to 6500? According to ls1tech, ls1 lifters are only rated to 6250rpm. Also, that tr224 dyno is knocking my socks off. I think it's plausible that if on a 112, it would pull 400rwhp. Also, a stock LQ4 puts down 285rwhp. So just a cam and longtubes gained 105 rwhp!!!

the gearing you got is ridiculous. might as well be revvin in neutral

Well, unless HIS dyno (rgvsierra) is whack, I dunno. It's plenty safe to run to 6500 provided you have the right valvetrain to accomodate it. I have LS7 lifters, hardened COMP Hi-Tech pushrods and patriot dual gold valve springs with titanium retainers.
