6.0L 5-Speed Dyno Day Today
#143
oh ok, i guess that would bother me too. see what that other dyno says and let us know.
BTW i'm going to dyno mine to but since i went back down to 3.42s i think i should only do a 2nd gear pull? if i do a 2nd gear pull locked how far off do you think my #s will be to a 3rd gear pull?

Looks like someone's changed their tune ....
"I just may end up going to a single pattern 224 cam."
TR224 is king.
"gmc,
I had the TR224 cam in my '00 TA. Before the 224, I had a comp 212/218 cam. The difference in power, EVERYWHERE (even off idle), between the 224 and the 212/218 was very VERY noticeable.
great cam for a daily driver, as it gives up absolutely nothing anywhere in the powerband. just adds."

Not yet I'm not...... I'm going to another dyno, hopefully tomorrow since I know the truck is dialed in now. Let's see what I come back with first. If I don't see the HP curve the way I like it, the engine is coming apart for some serious valve event investigation. If everything is degreed in perfectly and that's all the power it's going to put out, only then will I upgrade the cam. Either I got an iffy dyno run or something is wrong with the valve events. We should have a solid plan by the end of the day tomorrow.

I got it running this afternoon. Trans will go in it tomorrow. I agree on the cam issue. I'd bet that if you degree it you'll find that it has more advance ground into it by mistake than they claimed.

Ok guys, I was out of town all weekend and got back into town awhile ago. Did my sunday night wash and fuel fillup routine. I was out doing some logging with the laptop and ran the truck through the rungs. My dear god, it really pulls hardcore right up to 6400 RPM's without a hiccup or any signs of the power falling off (butt-0-meter). I was coming down an entrance ramp rather slowly (around 30MPH) and laid it to the rug in 2nd. It flashed and screamed up to the rev limiter (6400) before I knew it. This took me up to 62MPH on the scanner. I let off to about 50 MPH and I see headlights flying up behind me and around me. A guy in a Dodge Hemi Ram reg cab long box flew by me about 80 MPH with the pedal to the rug and wanted to show me a thing or two. I dropped it into 3rd @ 60MPH and full pedal down. Within about 5 seconds I was not only caught up to him but surpassed his speed by about 30-40 MPH (6300 rpm's @ 106 MPH) I let my left hand hang out the window and gave him the wave. After slowing down to about 50 MPH he passed me normally and wouldn't even look at me. Stay tuned boys, I think I got a goofball dyno session. The truck idles too nice and pulls too good I think for the valve events to be off. However, we'll see if dyno #2 proves me to be right or wrong tomorrow.

Put down 349.4 HP @ 5970 RPM
and 340.4 FT Lbs @4644
We removed the stock air filter and made another pull.
363.4 HP @ 5908 RPM and
357.5 Ft Lbs @ 4763
So maybe a better filter would help?

Not to ***** the thread but i dynoed my stock 06 GTO and removing the factory air filter picked up a good amount of power. The only mods are SLP loud mouth mufflers and a custom H pipe.

Ok, ricer shop is full and will be out of town tomorrow. I talked to the cam designer today about why the sharp fall in power and he has a good theory. I will share with you if he's right about what it takes to make my power graph continue onward
