i ran like 12:5:1 back in the day with 706 casting heads ported, but it wasnt enough for what i wanted

everyone says 12:1 is to much, appearantly they never ran it before, i used to drive mine 70 miles one way to work without any issues...

i will be running the better part of 12 on the 408 gunning for 600 to the wheels

Your not the only one shooting for 6xx to the wheels with a 408...LOL.. My 12:1 was fine also till about 3-4 weeks ago on 93 octane. Then I guess the fuel around here changed, cause it didnt like it anymore.

no **** thats crazy you must have to retard the timing a bit i would think with that much comp on pump gas or else it would just ping it self to death .

Why are running bottle pressure at 1100psi? How much pressure drop do you have at the end of a pass with say half a bottle. Going rich? Jet it for 900psi and I bet it doesn't drop near as much, and it should be more consistant run to run.

I'd be running 12-1 or more with my new 418, but I didn't feel like milling the brand new AFR 225 heads I had. But I see no problem with it is it's set up with the right cam and tune. But what do I know..

BTW, some of the reason he has more TQ than your example? My guess, the cyl heads and compression have a lot to do with it. That LS3 head is what a 260+ cc runner? Probably a lot bigger than DBRODS's.. Port velocity suffers, and when that happens, so does TQ.

I wish you luck on the 600rwhp 408. I'm hoping my AFR headed 418 makes 530ish through the 80E and 4,56 gears 12 bolt, with 11.15-1cr 245/260 .64x/.62x cam.. But I should be able to make up for it with the 2 stage N20 kit

i'll be realistic here, if i even come close to 600 to the wheels i am sure that any type of dialy driving would be out the window!! this isnt my daily even though i drive it often i give it no mercy.
