I putting together a 94 s10 with an(05) lq4 and a t56/8.8 explorer rear. I plan on driving it daily when I'm done. I would like to make 400whp/wtq with a small cam so the driveability and mileage will be good. I plan on lt headers dual exhaust, ls6 intake and all the bolt ons. Will this get me there with a small cam or should I put an L92 top end on it and cam it accordingly?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kory

One fella was running PRC 5.3 Stage II heads if I recall correctly, and I've seen some folks run just some milled 243/799 to bump up the compression on their LQ4.
While L92's make awesome power, you gotta swap the whole top end over because it's a different port design. If you wanna keep it on the semi-cheap, just find some 243's, or even cheaper some 799's which are the same casting and everything, and if you really want then swap on a TBSS/NNBS intake with the 90mm TB and you'll have a pretty respectable street engine. By that time you might could just do the L92 swap, but I think you'd still be ahead on price just cause 243/799's can be had a little cheaper than their L92 counterparts.
On a 6.0, a 224 cam seems to have pretty nice driving habits. What I described is pretty much the setup I'll be running when I do the swap.

PathfinderJr is right IMO. You will need a set of 243/799 heads and a cam to get around 400rwhp out of the lq4. IMO with just a cam and a good tune you can get 365-380rwhp out of your lq4.

Truckshop is the one that made 411 or 419rwhp in a CCSB, 6.0/PRC 2.5 heads, 224 cam, CAI, 90mm intake swap, LTs, OR-y, 3000 stall, 4:10s, 20" rims
his TQ curve is insane on the 2600+ side wow!
the truck is the family vehicle, 16-17mpg on the interstate with a new 3400/built tranny
