At 5500+lbs I wouldn't get the cam too big. I'll bet my 215 Isky would be perfict for you. It makes good power in and out of boost, and is easy on parts. I strongly considerd running the HRX 218, .605'' lobe but Im happy with the lil 215

Damm thats heavy, almost should have a Dmax in it lol. My cam is 215/215, .566''/.566'', 114 lsa. Im 370Ci and wouldn't want any more cam for a DD at my weight. I wouldnt run that 214/230, 117 in your setup. Maybe for a TVS L92 setup or something but wouldnt be my pick for a turbo.

The Isky in stock48's truck would work pretty well for you I bet. I would like to see a back to back with that one against a LS6 cam for sure. It would be a nice DD cam that is really easy on valve springs.

so i been calling around all morning just getting opinions and what not. from lingenfelter they said gt2-3. comp said a 220/220 581/581 on a 115+2. but i ask him what that would pull to and he said 6800 and i told him what you guys said about the turbo and peak horse power at 5500rpm. so he said put it on a 113 or a 112. it would still have negative overlap at .050.

what do you guys think of the whole reverse split thing?

Thats the reason I went with the .566'' lobe vs the .605'' lobe. I have driven cross country several times now with no issues.

That 220/.581'', 115* looks pretty good but I think its still a little big for your Ci/weight.

I don't think the reverse split is necessary until you get into the larger cams like 230+ @.050''. Why do you need so much RPM? My 215 in the 370 will pull to 6700RPM limiter no problem, it just pulls alot harder down in the mid 5's and drops back into the torque with a 5500RPM shift. It still hits 65~6600RPM through the traps @130MPH. I don't think thats too bad of a topend for a little 76mm turbo, with 4 sticky tires all locked together, through an unlocked 80E.

i don't need or want the rpm i just want a system that work together. something where everything starts and stops pulling together. i paid for some cam specs along time ago but never used them so i ask for some new cam specs from patrick g. he said about like yours 214/218 115+1. he said something about keeping the overlap centered over tdc.

how about a 216/216 .629/.629 on a 113+2. i bet that would be a strong one. i found that dcr comp lobe calculator over on tech and i've been messing around with it as i read and learn new stuff. some of the thoughts and ideas i've had seem to be about right. i just really think it would be nice to have a cam that rides along WITH my turbo. i was thinking of the new intake but if it extends the rpm beyond what the turbo wants then its useless. i looked up the new comp rt manifold $$$$$ but it looks like it rides exactly the same as the truck mani just with more power.

I really like that one but thats more lift than I would want for a daily driver. Those short duration super high lift cams are hard on the valvetrain. Id stick around .560~ .580" with .600" a max on a lobe below 220@.050. I have an Isky 214, .605" lobe on a 114* avaliable bit I think a 215, .566" is plenty.
