Default New drive-shaft based Dyno. Need your help!

I'm not sure this is the right place for this. But, here goes...

I have just developed a new drive-shaft torque sensor/dynamometer.

It currently works with the Innovate Motorsports LogWorks software. And the LC-1 and the rest of their MTS devices. It is a real strain-gage based torsional force sensor. No accelerometers, timers, GPS, etc.

It's just the box and the coil on the tail-shaft. The rest is just a display stand

It is similar to the Land-and-Sea "On-board Dynamometer" see: http://www.land-and-sea.com/rotary-s...shaft-dyno.htm

Here it is, installed in my 2002 2500HD 4x4

So far, testing has gone better than expected. Even with the big 32-spline 1410 yoke on my HD, I can easily resolve less than +/- 1lb-ft of torque ( out of a full scale of +/- 4500 lb-ft ) and +/- 1hp. Although, the weather has put a temporary hold on further testing.

What I am looking for is the info that I need to make installation kits for the various GM RWD applications. Specifically, the slip-yoke dimensions and the tail-shaft housing dimensions that I need to mount the field coil.

I am trying to get this out to the public for less than $1500.00 ( vs. the $5000-$7000 that Land and Sea wants ).

Any help, dimensions-wise, is appreciated

Thanks, all

Pretty cool Dr Mike!
Where in So Cal are you? I have my truck drive train in pieces and could easily help you out. I live in the South Bay btw. And like Pat(EvilGMC) said, there's a few of us that would be more than happy to help out.

Well, if you wanna PM Dezert1500 he's in Laguna Niguel and his truck is also down for another couple weeks until he get's some spacer needed for his car intake conversion.
Also EvilGMC is in the O.C. as well and his truck is down until he gets a new rear end in there. Those two might be your best bet!
Awesome product, very interested to see it in action!

Thanks.

I just managed to sneak in a quick up-hill pull before the rain showed up. The measurement at the drive-shaft was:

3960RPM
307HP
407FT-LB

This equates to about 361HP & 478ft-lbs at the flywheel and about 270HP & 358ft-lbs at the rear wheels.

It has more to give as I got off the throttle at 4000RPM

This is with a 6.0L with a Wynjammer blower set up for 6lbs, 8.1L injectors, and a HP-Tuners 2-bar ECU programming. I still need to tweak it some.
