question for those in the North East
I bought my truck in North Carolina when I was stationed there, now im stationed in Massachusetts. I've noticed that in the colder days here my truck has been whining in the mornings when I start it up.
Is this normal?
It goes away as soon as the engine temp starts to rise and it is only for the first 5 minutes or so after startup, it does however vary in pitch with rpms. Everything else seems fine. I'm assuming it is just related to the temperature. But I would like some input just to be safe.
Thanks
Hans

From what I know, It's the trany warming up (Damn 4L60) If you noticed, it's only while driving and like you said it goes away after it warms up. Just like the engine gotta give it time to get out of the tran pan I've already replace the trany at 81K probably gonna upgrade soon to get more flow and smoother shifts.

You're probably gonna hear alot of different noises when you start it up on cold days, both inside and out. Might hear some squeaking or whining from the belt tensioner pulleys, trans may make some noise, check the power steering fluid level too, that'll give you noise if it's low.
Inside my truck, I hear the plastic panels, dash, etc. move and expand as the cab heats up...a creak here, a pop there, oh yea it's fun. Be careful the first time that you find out you're window's frozen shut...don't try and force it. Get a good ice scraper, a nice snow brum, and you'll be set

I think they actually passed the law already, I'll have to check the SAN newsletter that I get. After I got pulled over the first time I unbolted my catback and drove around without the muffler for a week just to **** off the cops. Luckily for me I've got North Carolina tags so they can't get me with the restrictions.
Here is a link for the law their trying to pass. I guess its already been approved by the transportation committee.
