Default Temporary Tags in MD

Can anyone tell me how I get some temporary tags in Maryland? I'm getting the truck here soon and I am eventually getting it taged in Ohio, but that will be at the end of the month.

Do not want to pay MD taxes or deal with an inspection.

Ohio = Does it have tail lights and an exhaust?

Yep

Hmmmm, not sure but, you could give the MVA a call or drop in one of the locations and ask them.

You live in OH or MD?? You can get a temp tag from ohio and use it to transport the truck.. If you get the tag in MD it will be a 30 day temp tag, no inspection req, but you will have to pay sales tax, more then likely mva will go by book value, if it is less then 10 years old..

I live in MD but my home of record (military) is in Oh. Want to transport from md to oh. If I get it tagged in Oh I have pay purchase price. Pretty much need a tag to drive for about a week till I drive home to Ohio. The only problem is that to get a 30 day tag from Ohio I have to take the title in To get the tags. I don't have time to mail it to my mom for the tags and have them mailed back in time for me to leave.

I've looked at the MVA site, kinda unclear on what they want. Going to the MVA on Friday.

Either way you get a temp tag you will have to pay the taxes on the truck.. Just no inspection on it with a temp tag in MD

Well that sucks, I don't want to pay MD taxes. I'd rather pay them in the state of Ohio. I feel overnight shipping fees coming.

I am pretty sure they (MD) will refund you the taxes when you kill the tag. You will more than likely pay for the 2yr tax to get the temps, but once you surrender them they will prorate your refund. Don't quote me though.

I gave up. Truck will have MD tags. The way to get around the "book price tax" is a bill of sale.
