Southern Truck Shootout
I am pasting this from my thread on the Lightning boards. Looking for this to be an all truck/suv event with a get in where you fit in, heads up style race.
Preliminary details:
SGMP in Valdosta Ga. www.raceSGMP.com
December 11, 2010
Gates open @ 10am
$10 to watch/crew
$25 t&t track entry
Show and race fees TBD
Ok folks, had a meeting with the facilities manager at SGMP in Valdosta tonight and he is all for the Southern Truck Shootout! The date is set for December 11, 2010. For this first year, we are running the event on a test and tune. Don't let that concern you as we talked intensively about sponsor paricipation and making the event as formal as any other track event. They run events there all the time in conjunction with test and tunes so no worries!
As for the classes and organization details, please stay tuned to what is coming. We went over some ideas tonight to try and make this an event to remember but still have tons of details hash out. I can tell you there will be several classes that are mostly planned for heads up racing, a class for the diesel folks, and a car show for the folks that just want to show off thier stuff.
If you have any questions or suggestions for the event, please shoot me an email to brickrocket@bellsouth.net

There will be tons of truck there running sub 11.50 passes without a cage. I cannot "officially" ask or tell the track folks this info. If something were to happen and there is proof they knowingly let this happen, it could be real ugly.
I can tell you all that I've never seen them boot anyone for running faster than the requirement without a cage. I personally plan on shooting for 9's and guess what, no cage. Just don't ask or tell any of the officials what you run and they will probably look the other way.
I've personally made numberous sub 11.50 passes there and they never even batted an eyelash.
