"Cool" idea

I bought some DEI header wrap a while back to tinker with the same idea, but I liked the look of my tube after ceramic/powder coating too much to cover it up.

So the 114 IAT at 90 ambient was after a wot run with the intake wrapped?

It is a Volant and I do have the Volant "ram-air" tube. Can't say I noticed a SOTP difference or change in MPG, but luckily I only spent $50 on it. The bottom of the filter usually has a decent amount of debris and heavy dirt caked on, so I have to clean it more often.

Those IAT's were "before" numbers. I haven't had a chance to get "after" numbers, but I will update this when I do.

With 2.9 pulley driving normal in south Florida night I was at 40 degrees above ambient. That's with larger hex and water wetter distilled water mix. It was 130 . Humidity has been nuts and heat index was 92 at 9 pm. shitty and no boost period because I have to get tuned for the cam, heads , and 90 mm tb just installed.

I feel that, my truck is a whole different animal in winter, then summer comes along with the humidity and it feels like someone stole my blower

Been trying to fight IAT's so summer is less depressing.

My 1st post here yay

If you really want to cool the IAT invest in a meth injection kit, it will DROP the intake to high 60's

Install the tank inside the the cap and the pump below the cap ( they are quite), and run the lines.

AEM Meth kit is 395 $ with free shipping from MVPmotorsports.com.

hope this helps

Welcome over!

I've read a number of times that in the real world, meth does more to raise octane than lower IAT's. I run e85 when I want an octane boost.

And I assume your meant put the tank in the cab, which isn't going to happen as it's my DD and it is going to look stock inside and out.

Unless you spray the meth after the blower it will not drop the IAT's much on a Roots blower. Spraying after is quite involved on a on manifold setup. Meth will help keep the IAT's from rising as much and obviously at octane but it doesn't make a dramatic IAT change.

thx,

On my 240sx it really helped me with my IAT specially when i'm running 20+Psi.

Also some one told me that you can inject water alone, and (according to him) it will be in vapor form so no worries and braking stuff (again his advice).

You can use your OEM wiper fluid tank as the tank for the meth injection, tab it in the bottom and run the lines

I have been eyeing a Harris Speed plate kit for when the Tahoe becomes a weekend truck. That should lower some IAT's
