Default 2000 sierra 4.8 build advice?

I just picked up a 2000 sierra 2 wheel drive, standard 5 speed. Im lookin for some advice on a turbo build. I have have numerous nitrous ls1 cars and even a turbo 5.3 liter z28 but this is my first truck build. Im lookin to make 550+ at the wheels. What upgrades will have to be done to it to hold up. I want to run a 90mm turbo at around 15 psi. I know the simple thing like a good fuel system will need to be done but i am lookin to run a stock bottem end for now.

Ha! 90mm is way overkill for a 550+ goal. Get a Borg warner with a 72-76 compressor and 83 turbine... Will support a lot of power

im no turbo expert buy all means and i understand the go big the first time logic but a 90mm... really? specially for 550 hp wtf lol . that big of turbo is good for 1000+hp to the wheels im sure . even a 76mm will get you 3/4 of the way to 1khp im sure. if you do a quick search here you will find a couple guys that make custom pipes for turbos at a fair price .

i second the Borg S475 75/83mm..

which 90mm turbo are you lookin at?

You could make 550rwhp on a small 65mm with a good size turbine...

but what size engine you plan on building? try starting there and find a turbo for that engine and use it on your 4.8..

The 5 speed manual will break at that hp goal u want. Either swap to a 4l80e or a built t56. Ls9 gaskets head studs ect are all a must. Dont forget about the axle it wont hold up long under boost. read some of foose04's threads there is more than enough info to tell u want u need to complete ur built

The output shaft of the nv3500 is a helluva a lot bigger then a viperized t56. I know because I went from one behind a big block that lasted a couple of years no problem to a t56. The gearing in the trans is all wrong and they dont like high rpm shifts. But breaking it is another story....
