4.8 or 5.3 TU1 cam
There's not much on the TU1 cam about it. Would it work better on a 4.8 since they're known for liking boost with a 76mm turbo or a 5.3 with a TU1 on the same size turbo, thanks guys

TU0 would be better for a 4.8 or 5.3
The TU0 was designed for more stock cubic inch engines and good daily driver combo with turbo apps.
The TU1 would be better in a lighter vehicle like a LS1 in a car, and quite a bit of guys use them in the 370CI engines with a single 76mm turbo.
Another good choice is the ISKY 212/212 112lsa and is a good compromise cam that still has a good lope to it and sound.
I would get the ISKY first choice and the TU0 next choice. Or you could get EPS to custom grind a cam for you.

Also you gotta factor in the size of the cam and what kind of converter you want to upgrade to. If you are planning on staying stock converter in a 4.8L for now you will want to stay under a 220/220. IMO a 220/220 is too big for a stock converter 4.8L as it will be a turd down low. A 212/218, 212/212 or around there, would be fine for you I think though.
Get a circled 3000-3200 converter and you can go low 220's cam if you wanted. Then again you may or may not want to upgrade your gears depending on your trucks weight / tires (is it a Regular cab). On top of that you might be switching back to the stock gears with a Turbo setup as they load better on 3.42's with taller gears. What is the gears you have currently?
I'd probably just get the ISKY 212/212 112lsa cam and Use it NA for now and keep using it when you go turbo. Its a good all around compromise cam with sound and lope like stated earlier today and also good for turbo apps. I would get a 3000 converter with it as well and you will be set. You may or may not want to get an upgraded tranny cooler as well.

Yes you can run it NA and it would work pretty well. You gotta remember though FI and NA are 2 different things. If you do not intend on installing a Turbo kit within 6 months to a year then I'd recommend a slightly bigger cam for now, and you can always buy a more appropriate cam later on for Turbo app. The reason is you MIGHT get tired of a smallish Turbo cam in a NA setup kinda quick, until you save up for the turbo kit.
