4.8 Turbo (Coming Soon) Need Some Critiquing
Ive been doing alot of 'searching' and reading. Plan on doing ALOT more all through out this process. I know there are alot of 4.8 build threads and alot of information to be had on them.
My plan for this thread is to house all my questions relating to a Turbo set-up, as well as progression and results (pics/vids) through out the process. I figured I could ask questions inside here, so I dont have to clutter up the forum.
My competence on the subject is scattered, or hit and miss
As far as my goals for the truck:
- Its not a DD
- Id like to at LEAST make 500HP, but no more than 700HP. From what Ive read alot of stock internals will handle that HP range, but after 700HP you'll need to upgrade, is this somewhat correct?
- No budget, but I wanna keep it reasonable
My truck is a 07 NNBS RCSB WT model.
Bone stock 4.8 - Did they come out with 323 gears?
Heres a list of what Im leaning towards and where I want to be critiqued at:
1) 4L80e
2) Gears? Opinions...373's?
3) TrueTrac
4) Aeromotive Stealth 340 Fuel Pump
5) Delphi 65# Injectors
6) Stall? Opinions....3k?
7) Cam? Opinions...
8) Exhaust ... Magnaflow 3" ... Be beneficial to run 4"? Opinions...
9) Wideband , oil pressure, tranny temp gauges
10) Boost Controller...AEM TruBoost?
11) Air Filter...opinions..4" off turbo?
12) Turbo... Debating between Trick Stage 3 or 4? Opinions...
Im sure I left some things out. This is more or less a rough draft. What did I leave off the list that is a must?
Looking forward to hearting opinions and suggestions.
Thanks

4l80 is correct u can keep the 60 till it breaks. It all depends on how u treat it! 373 are perfect for boost. True trac is good as well unlike the locker it frees up during turns like the stock g80. Fuel pump, roll with stock one! The nnbs trucks fuel pump can handle boost very well up to about 15psi! Call around all the different supercharger companies and they will tell u the same! That's what they
told me when I was looking. Stall a billet multi disk 3200 circle d or yank. Email circle d and he will recccomend one based on mods. Cam something low n boost friendly 212/218, 218/222 etc.
Exhaust has to be free flowing magnaflow is fine 3"-3.5 is perfect! Injectors 65#ers are good enough! Turbo t76 stage 3 trick or kbracing t76 intetcooled! Definitely need a wide band, and our trucks have a stock tranny temp gauge, just hit the odometer button to cycle through. Boost controller is a good insurance, boost by gear is better if possible. 15 psi in first on 373's equals no traction!

I vote "NO" on the 3-3.5 exhaust, if you want 700hp 4" is the minimum required. Do yourself a favor and dont skimp on the wideband. you will rely too much on it to buy a cheap 200 dollar pile....

A single 3" is good for about 340 hp so you tell me. With turbo's and down pipes it's all about the pressure differential....
If it was my choice, I would have ordered a T-6 and ran a 5"inch down pipe..... I think someone has done it before????
A friend of mine just tried their new one and was happy with it. I haven't had any direct experience with that model though...
