Default 454 Canepa Suburban?

Interested in a 2500 Suburban. It has a Canepa design supercharger on the 7.4 454.

Can anyone help me out with what I need to look for, stay away from, etc. What type of system is this?

Any and all information is appreciated. This supercharger was professionally installed in CA, but I do not know much at all about this.

Low mileage for a 1999 Suburban 2500, but this charger got me to searching and I found you guys.

Thanks!

Bruce Canepa is located in Santa Cruz, not far from here. I have had friends who have worked there and know of him, met him, but wouldn't go further than that. Personality aside, his cars and trucks are modified to fit his customer's needs like longer footroom for ball players and whatever.
I do not think Bruce builds or designs any of the parts he installs, just that, he modifies the vehicles but buys all the parts and seriously doubt Canepa has his own blower. Can you get a picture under the hood?

Thank you, I did find that kind of thing and the photo I have seen of the engine bay look similar to a whipple style charger, but I am extremely new with regards to this type of thing that I felt I needed some more expert type of advice.

Are Lysholm good, bad? If it is indeed a Whipple is thi ssomething I should run from? What advice would you give a total rookie as myself?

I truly appreciate your help.

After reading the forced induction sticky at the top of these pages, and searching some more, I am pretty sure the charger is a whipple from the photos I saw.

Is this a bad combination? This will be a daily driver and will pull light loads from time to time...usually no more than 7000 pounds (camper) a few times a year.

Thanks again!

Whipple are fine, well established in the sport. Keep reading the FI section, there's a lot that I'd want to know before buying someone Else's blown truck

Exactly! This is why I am asking questions before and not after...

I sincerely appreciate the responses. I have been reading a bunch and the criticisms etc due to no intercooler, whippletronics, extra injectors, and much more.

Learning a lot. As far as maintenance, what is different with a blown engine than a stocker? Any tips you could give me as to what I should be looking for specifically? What would you look for, what questions would you ask?

Thank you.

no real maintenance differences, only that much more important to maintain oils etc.

What would I look for? I might want to take it to have a compression or leak-down test, make sure the transmission was solid. Do you have any way to scan or log?

I will say Canepa builds nice rides, way out of my reach. If it was cared for it'd be a sweet deal
