Hello guys

A friend offered me to buy a 454 Whipple supercharger for 1996-2001 454(Vortec?)

It will not bolt right on as the blower outlet is for engines who got the throttle body on the left side otherwise than the 496 Vortec who got the throttle body in the front.

Despite the fact that it would work with some tubing and work.

Any opinion?

A supercharger is expensive and I would get in for cheap.

Don't do it. The Vortec 454 has a different accessory layout, different intake manifold, different fuel system, different PCM and different cold air induction than the 8100 does. There is literally nothing from that kit you would be able to use, not even the head unit itself because it's only a 1.6L compressor. It would only give you 3 psi with the smallest pulley you could run on it without slipping.
Also be aware that the 1.6L unit is no longer being serviced if something should go wrong with it.
If you want a Whipple look for the right kit for your engine.

Over the past few weeks. I drove it with the 454 for the first time yesterday. It's a bit of a long story, I'm going to start another thread with photos to explain.
