Default 6.0 LQ4 Swap complete!

Well the original procharged 5.3 made it to about 85k before the crap 706 heads laid down and started leaking coolant into the oil. From some help here, i was able to determine that the heads were the problem. I went with a nice set of 243 heads with arp hardware. Truck made it to 103k and i was getting coolant in the oil again. Wasnt sure what the problem was this time. So i searched craigslist and found someone selling a 2003 lq4 for $1500. Snagged it for $1k and did all new gaskets, ls9 head gaskets, arp hardware, coated pacesetters, ory. Got the swap done and drives great. Love the new sound and low end grunt and throttle response. Just need a retune. I went with a new pulley and belt as instructed by procharger. Not looking for huge numbers as the trans is still stock as well as the rearend. But i am hoping she will be break into the 400s at the wheels.
I really wanted to thank everyone at pt.net for all the treads and giving me the confidence to go forward with this swap on my own.

You should be well over 400rwhp with a Procharger on a LQ4. Is this with a P1SC?

Sounds like it'll be a fun truck once you get the tune worked out... and a tranny that will handle your new found power lol.

Yeah, p1sc unit. Originally i had a 4.00 pulley and made 8-9psi. Procharger spec'd me a 3.7 after the exhaust work and engine swap. I am taking a 3.6 and 3.85 with me to tune. I am going to D&G Dyno in oklahoma. He has a mustang dyno and tunes with efi live. I have heard nothing but good things about that shop.
Well over 400? My trans doesnt like the sound of that... neither does the ol g80. Maybe he can leave some torque management in the tune to help it last.

Got back from the dyno today. The junkyard motor made 421hp/ 448tq on Dwayne's mustang dyno. I wanted to use a smaller pulley but he was saying my 44lb injectors are close to maxing out... just as i thought they would be. Procharger said the 44's would be ok. I had them from the 5.3 so we gave it a go. But now i know what to save for. Anywho, just wanted to post up my numbers...

Well you called it.... Trans started slipping in 2nd gear when I was pulling onto the highway going to work. Now 2nd is pretty much worthless. I had a local shop put together a built trans for my needs. Pretty equivalent to a performabuilt level 2. Anyways, I am having them install it Wednesday. Only like $600 extra. I went ahead and removed the y-pipe to help out, since the headers and tight fitting ypipe might be a little out of the norm. Now I get to drive to work and drop it off tomorrow night with open headers.

But anyways trans is bone stock with 104k. I think she's had a good run. I just wished it wasn't so quick after my 6.0 swap. I always kept up with the maint on the trans... regular flush and filters as recommended. Been boosted since 78k. I bought it with 58k and have been towing since I owned her. So add a tally for another 6.0 that has taken down a 4L60E

nice truck. I did the lq4 swap in my 05 crew cab, with cam, vortech supercharger, long tubes and intercooler and made 469/490. My truck was 2wd but i ran consistent high 12's with 109 to 111 mph. I just could get it to stop spinning was my problem, and I didnt want to try slicks with my aluminum driveshaft. I went through a couple trans with that truck, and finally did the 4l80e swap. cross member change, plug and play harness from frost, and turbo 400 short yoke and thats all it took. Good luck with your truck

Got my truck back from the trans shop last night. I hate being w/o my truck... I especially hate others working on it. But I had no complaints with the install. FYI for anyone that wants to know... truck drives like crap w/ open headers... I think the o2's sense lean and just dump in the fuel. Exhaust all back on and it drives great. Man is it nice to have some good crisp shifts. They went ahead and did the vacuum modulator kit w/ check valve. We will see how that turns out in the long run. Still just taking it somewhat easy for a bit. Hope this baby lasts a long time!

Yea my o2s and wideband didn't read correctly with open headers, so I wouldn't worry a whole lot. Glad to hear you got the truck back on the road.
