6-71 blower on lsx
hey guys, my uncle just took the blower off his 6-71 detroit diesel and got a differant one. the old one needs bearings and seals ($100) and he gave it to me. I have a 4.8 and a 67 c10 just sitting around and i think the 6-71 would look retro on a ls motor in an old chevy pickup. I will have to fab up a sheet metal intake, but that shouldnt be hard (i think my fab skills are more than up to it) it will just take some time. the front drive will be a bit harder but you can buy one for a small block with a serpentine setup. I will prolly start fabbin this up this summer and i just thought i would see what everyones thoughts were. im not after huge numbers, just the look of a gmc blower on a lsx. dont think its ever been done. Thoughts?

Good deal. I had that same idea 4 years back and posted it.. It would look cool as hell, you would have to cut the hood.. Only prob is it wouldn't be any where as eff as a modern set up. BUT THE COOL FACTOR HAS THAT BEAT.. If you have the time go for it... I think this might have been done with the lsx engine but not sure..

There are companies out there that make 6-71 to LSx manifolds, though they are rather expensive ($1500+ if I remember right). You will (probably) spend as much to get a 6-71 on an LSx as you would to buy a whole (used) blower setup.
As others have/will point out, it will not be worth the money UNLESS you just WANT IT (in that case $10 or $1000000, it's what you like).
