Default .68 or .96ar for 5.3

hey guys i was wondering witch turbo would it work beter with my 2006 5.3 silverado front mount custom made turbo mount - power master t70 .68 or.96ar and up to how much boost will i will put with intercooler and a gt2-3 cam how much rwhp ,thanks for your help

I am using a .68 on a 60-1 and I love it. 400rwtq at 2500RPM ... but I am (currently) using a stock torque converter so I am able to capitalize on the smallish turbo. If you are going to the effort of a cam (that will help in the upper RPM range) then I might go with a little bit bigger AR. You certainly won't lose much down low. How YOU want the power delivery to be may take a little tweaking on AR and/ or torque converter. Just my 2 cents

I used to have the 60-1 with a .68 my power dropped off at 5200. I now have a mpt70 with the .96 the engine pulls a lot harder on the top end all the way to 6000. I plan to install my gt2-3 in the next few days. Go with the .96.

Yup, thats what my 60-1 does I purposefully sacrificed top end to maintain the feeling of instant torque... for my daily driver. If you have a dyno graph comparing the 2 turbo's I would be genuinely interested to see it
Also, I would to see some discussion on turbine size... P, Q, S Trim and so forth.

I only have dynoed it one time and that was with the 60-1, a 45 shot and 11-12psi. The torque peaked 597 at 4800 and the horsepower was 546 at 5200. The truck would only hit 107mph in the quarter. I liked the instant torque the only problem was I was always in boost. Just barely tip in at 65 and it was in boost. I had to play with the timming tables a lot and reenable burst knock to keep it from pinging at 60-80mph when accelerating at light throttle. I do get better gas miledge now that it doesn't boost every time I speed up.

hey guys i already have a cam but not turbo cam its a 222/224 566/568 112 lsa can i still try it and see how it works so a bigger a/r is better with a cam or what

That cam should work. What are the rest of the specs on your truck? If you have a decent stall, and gears I would go with the looser AR. If you can keep back pressure down, that cam might work for you.

i have a cold air but not good for the turbo but im putting a intercooler and i have 3.73 electric fans and no stall yet what should i get 3000 or what lose stall. and what do you mean by looser ar. and how can i keep back pressure down im new to the fi induction

The A/R ratio. Not the converter. A 3000-3200 should be enough. I have a yank 3400, and I should have gone with the 3000. I think I would go with the .96AR with that cam. Are you 2wd, or 4wd?
