76 Turbo on LY6 smoking
I have recently swapped an LY6 into a single cab 2008 Silverado and I installed a used Trick single turbo setup.
Everything was fine except the old owner lost few stuff like the turbo oil drain fittings, some cold side pipes, wastgate flange and all that.
So I managed to get everything fixed up and I tapped the oil drain with a smooth line ( bigger than feed ) TO THE FRONT PASSENGER corner of the oil pan.
I crank up the truck, it starts fine but there is alot of white smoke coming from the rear exhaust.. so I know its an oil feed restrictor, I searched for a restrictor but then I had to custom make one and smallest I could make was a 2mm restrictor.. this is too much I know but I'd like to know what exact size I should be using so that I could find one.
Thanks.

how many miles are on the turbo? If the drain has any bellies in it it'll cause a backup in the drain. kinda sounds to me thats your problem or you need seals in the turbo... I'd stay away from the oil restrictors. Thats realy only if you have a whole lotta volume and pressure going to the feed side of the turbo.

What size are your feed and drain lines? You need either a -3a/n or -4a/n feed line, and at least a -10a/n drain line. Like stated before, make sure you don't have any restrictions or horizontal sections in your drain line that could cause the oil to back up, as the drain line is entirely gravity fed. As for a restrictor, there are several options there. At my turbo, I have a straight -4a/n to 1/8npt fitting that mounts in the turbo feed flange. We took the 1/8npt side of the fitting and drilled and tapped the inside of it to accept holley carburetor jets. I just picked up a small assortment of jets at my local speed shop and now all I have to do to change restrictor size is remove the fitting and swap jets with a screwdriver.

I had this problem after my turbo install. It was the turbo oil drain. Make sure you have it routed correctly, or oil will back up into the turbo, and puff out alot of white smoke. Have you checked how it's routed?

I bet it's the drain. Sounds like the drain is too small, kinked or goes uphill at some point. I would hope that if the seals were that bad, the previous owner would have told you before you bought it.
My thoughts exactly. What size hose on the drain? It should be a minimum of 5/8" hose. If your not sure what to use, order a replacement drain hose from Trick.
