Umm yea. Thats where the hottest temps are. I would want to know how hot the gas is going into the turbo. Who cares what they are on the way out.

My EGT bung is about 3" below the turbo flange, per KB... I mainly keep tabs on mine so the turbine doesn't get damaged. I understand why you want to watch exit temps, but I'd rather watch inlet temps, turbos arent cheap. It looks like a well thought out build though.

I'm guessing by the grease pen marks this is a junkyard motor? Sometimes those are the best

Why would anyone care what's coming out of the turbo, for EGT You want to know what going in it... That where it is the hottest. It's like knowing how hot you finger is AFTER you burn it,

Ok ok! Heres what my nerd friend said we needed for EGT's. You need one in every cylinder 2" out to see what each cylinder is doing, then one at the base of the turbo to see inlet temps so you don't cook the turbo, then another in the outlet of the turbo to see what your heat losses are so you can caluculate energy conversion by heat disapation of the turbine itself. I suppose we need one every foot in the exhaust pipe all the way out so we can monitor temp drops and see where we can neck down the pipe to save wieght because the cooler the exhaust is the smaller the......... Ah who gives a ****!! I love how threads just kinda take a left in the middle and go off on a tangent. Thanks for the kind words.
