99 LQ9 M112 woes....looking for something better
hey all. in a nutshell i bought a radix 112 kit from a member here and installed it on my 99 silverado 4x4 2500 6.0 4x4 ECSB with 4.10s and 35's and am extremely disappointed with the performance gains. My 4L80E is slipping...probably either converter or clutch related...and i am waiting numbers to do a build on it. nelson did my tune on the 112 and i am quite happy with them...but they seem to be quite busy lately and unable to answer my questions. so this is my dilemma....my time-frame limits the 12v cummins and NV 5600 swap i wanted for the time being so i want to build the 80-E and either go turbo or TVS-2300. magnesun says they havent had anyone install the 2300 on a LQ9 but it is possible with a 90mm throttle body and reutilizing my radix intercooler. i would like to get over 500 WHP HP out of this setup that i use as a DD and tow fairly frequently about 16k reliably. my local tranny builder says he needs some output numbers for the tranny build and that is the major holdup i am waiting on at this point. help me make a decision here. i dont like the newer body styles so please nothing about buying another truck here. i would prefer not to do a lower engine build on my truck at this time, but am not worried about having to do a cam swap and valve springs to achieve my power goals. i am located in the central texas area and the truck is not driveable IMO with the transmission issues. i am mechanically able when it comes to the S/C and valve springs, but have never attempted a cam swap. the tranny work and tuning will be outsourced. do you all think the LQ9 will hold enough boost to make 500 WHP hp reliably from the 2300? Magnesun wasnt really sure what the LQ9 would hold for boost on the bottom end to give me an idea. turbo? if so what turbo setup? will my current intercooler work with a turbo setup? do i need a cam? what kind of numbers do yall think a 2300 would put to FWHP on a LQ9? thanks in advance for the advice and opinions offered here.

No matter what route you go, making 500 whp your prob not going to do with out a cam, some sort of other bolt ons, LT's ect.. The 112 turned up on the 6.0 should make over 400 hp to the crank.. What other mods to the engine do you have.. A mild built 4l80 can handle the 500 whp mark no problem. If your going to use the truck as a towing machine, then the roots blower will more then likely be the best bet( not that a turbo would or couldn't do it if sized properly ) And for the record, unless you put that lq9 in your truck it is a lq4

My buddy has a 03 SSS, radix 112, stock 243's,2.8 pulley, ARH, 230-.612 cam, 60lb inj, on a mail order tune. It hauls ***
You'll be packing a little more weight then the ss, but with a couple of mods you could have a awesome combo.
