Yup, worth the drive.
Just talk to him and ensure you have EVERYTHING you need to get the job done so you dont waste a trip. I drive from Sacramento and I'll kick myself everytime I forget something lol.

Redding is pretty far from Fremont, probably like 3 1/2 - 4 hours. Rick does know what he is doing and did a good job tuning my truck.
When I swapped to a 4l80e, i was forced to find a mobile tuner willing to go the trans shop and flash a 4l80e file into it so I could drive it. The tuner ended up tuning my truck after the cam as well because I swapped the cam in the Sac area and he was local. He did a good job, but it wasnt tuned on a dyno pack like rick would do. It was a street tune.
Like I said, Rick knows what he is doing, but he is kind of far from redding. I ran into problems when he tuned my truck and he had to hold onto it for a few days. Like justin said, just make sure you have everything ready to go.
If you want the tuner in the sac area, shoot me a PM. He has tuned a few Magnacharged vehicles and has a good reputation in the valley. He does a street tune and is using a wideband.
