Anyone heard of using Propane instead of Meth?
I was wondering if anybody has heard of using propane instead of Meth for fuel suppliment/octane boost? Propane is 104 octane, has about 90% of gasoline's BTU's and runs about $3.25 in my neighborhood.
Since Propane is under pressure, I wouldn't need a pump so I think it could be a lowcost setup. I was thinking of using a BBQ propane tank to supply to vaporized propane. Propane is at about 125psi at 70 degrees ambiant temp so I coule use a propane regulator to hold it to about 75psi to keep to deliverly at a stable psi regardless of outside temps. I could use a N2O solenoid w/hobbs switch to activate at a set boost level (like a Stage 1 Meth kit) and Meth injectors. Finding out the right size "jet" would take some experimenting. A Stage 2 kit could be put together using a N2O progressive hardware.
Sound do-able? I'm probably missing something but it's just the first draft of an idea.
Thanks, Rick

One of the ways Meth/H2O lowers the IAT is that it asorbs heat while converting from liquid to a gas. The Propane would be injected in a gaseous state for I think it will provide little reduction in IAT's.
If you used a N2O bottle to hold the Propane, it would be fed in a liquid state. Sounds like a better idea. Traditonally, propane autos used a vaporizer warmed by the radiator water to make the propane become a gas. It you added the propane before the intercooler, it should guarentee vaporization. would the propane have any negative side effects on the MAF?

When I had propane on my diesel, I popped two head gaskets. It is a good way to burn all your fuel in a diesel but,it is a dirty gas. I liked propane but, wouldn't recommend using it to anyone. I have never had it on a gas motor it might do great. The Bullydog injector comes with a built in solenoid and all hoses you would need to hook up to radiator lines.
