I had the same problem and changed out my idlers and problem fixed! Mine is a 6 rib. I also went ahead and put in the HD tensioner to loose the belt slip. Give that a shot and I bet your problems will be solved

I bought some 8 rib 100mm idlers off ebay that have double bearings in them so they stay straight and wont wear out. I have also broken a HD tensioner already.

Any mechanical way to prevent this? Any point in switching to an 8rib and an HD tensioner?
Designing an independent drive for the SC is ideal but expensive. Abrupt throttle changes throw belts frequently, just a nature of the SC. With an independent belt, you can toss the SC belt and still limp where you're going. A stronger tensioner and higher flange pulleys help, but are no permanent fix

Yep....it takes a while but you actually "learn" how to work the gas pedal correctly to keep this from happening.

It took a few tosses for me to get the "roll out of the throttle" notion too

Its a good idea to keep a spare belt and wrench in the car because sometimes you just have to do it and theres always a risk of the belt being eaten
