Default Boost Cam

I have a trick stage 2 kit and a low km all stock 5.3.
I would like to run a bigger cam, I was looking at the Brian Tooley stage 2 boost cam. 226/231 .605"/.598" 113+4 3 bolt.
I know a lot of people have had great result with the triple 12, but I would like something bigger.
What are the cam limits on a 5.3?

Thanks.

that cam is definatly within the "limits" of a 5.3 not sure what p2v is like with that kind of lift, I don't remember what kind of clearance there is in there, I'm sure someone will chime in with that info.

What are the rest of your truck's specs? Bigger is not always better...

II have a stage 3 76mm and a 226/232 578/587 112+3 LSA

2800 stall.

And I think its great. I'm glad I didn't go with a smaller cam. And this cam has an amazing sounding idle to it too!

With a turbo you don't need a big cam... the small cams let the turbo spool really fast and keep it working up top.

Weight is the key. You have to plan accordingly to make something heavy fast.

My theory with cams and turbos, and I think others will approve, is that turbos don't really care what cam you use. But being in our heavy *** trucks, its best to get a cam that will help your low end torque, but will still allow the turbo to breathe once it hits full boost. Something like the triple 12 cam makes good low end torque, but allows the turbo and engine to pull all the way to 6k and a little above. A big cam will for sure let the turbo works its magic, but your gonna need a healthy converter to make it all work.
