BOV with D1SC ?

BOV with D1SC ?
I have recently replaced my 5.3 with a LQ4 6.0 with a cam (216 224 .551 .551 LSA 115). I was running 12 pounds of boost on my 5.3, but with my new setup I like to stay around 9. My problem is to stay at 9 PSI, I have to have my shift points at 5500 rpms. My cam actually makes power up to 6200 rpms. What do you guys think of the idea of putting a BOV between my FMIC and my MAF and still running my bypass? I would run a 9 pound spring and also drop down from a 4.25" pulley to a 4.0" pulley. Which would bring me into boost at a lower rpm but never going over 9 pounds and letting me shift at 6000 rpms. Any suggestions for a type of BOV?

I've looked into doing something similair. I talked to Rick @ Synergy Motorsports about it and he recommending running a external wastegate to do what your asking for. I haven't tried it yet but as soon as I found a used one, I'll give it a shot. I'll probably just bore a hole in the end panel of my FMIC and boltit on.

Russ - You might want to look into running a restrictor in the inlet of the blower also to limit boost. This technique is used with a smaller pulley to bring boost in faster but, limit it on the top end with centrifugals.

I read a couple of years ago about a guy with a supercharged mustang running an F1R. He over pulleyed the hell out of to run like 20+ pounds of boost. He ran a procharger race bypass valve and a wastegate with a boost controller. He was able to build boost almost instant like a roots style blower but could bleed off boost up top. I have thought about doing the same thing but I just haven't got around to it. Sounds like an awesome idea.
Restrictors are good for controling boost but cause a big increase in intake temps.

The restrictor is a much easier idea to try though.
Here is a post by a guy that works/worked at procharger about the blow off/restrictor ideas. He definately knows what he is talking about(not implying anyone else doesn't)

I don't have any personal experience with either of these setups described here, only regurgitating what I've read.
Here is another good thread to read.

If you have the time maybe you could test each one out. :doit:

i have used restrictor plates before they allow you to keep your low end boost and limit the top it is the better choice and definately cheaper i bet you could pick one up for about 30 bucks
