Default BW turbos T4 vs T6

Why the hell are s400 T6 turbos so much cheaper than s400 T4 turbos?
The T4 housing is an extra $199 and T6 turbos are generally offered in cheaper options. Why is this the case? I googled that ish for a bit and didn't find anything.

I think most of the s400s naturally come with the t6, and to get a t4 takes extra machining....I think...

I am guessing T6s must be standard on diesels? With t6s being so cheap, why don't we use these more on our trucks?

They are. Fitment mostly I would guess, and the T4s will spool a little faster on our smallish engines (compared to 10-12L diesels).

My S480 T6 1.32a/r was dirt cheap and one of the few turbos my local shop stocks. (being in a big, oil field diesel truck town)

Like Atmoic said.
For us it's fitment. T6 turbos chew up a good amount of space.
You would save on the turbo and increase the labor/build time.
Most customers don't need that large frame set up.

The base turbo they build all these T6 BW's from is called a "Box Stock S400" Which is the T6 1.32 a/r 96mm turbine wheel, 75mm compressor. These are the stock turbo for a 14L Detroit diesels as well as a few others, so they are mass produced by the 1000's. Everything other then that is a modification with other units parts to build the different sizes. That's why the price differences.

Just so you guys know, I have jigs for these T6 turbos and down pipes, so they are no big deal for me.
