Obviously this cam is a little less than ideal for a turbo'd engine. It has tons of overlap and its probably more suited for a N/A or nitrous setup. So I was thinking of putting the stock cam back in. I think the 112LSA and long exhaust duration will cause lots of reversion of the exhaust gas at the boost levels I'll be running.

Call me crazy, but I'm willing to bet the stocker will make more power with the turbo. What do ya'll think? Am I crazy? This will probably be only temporary as I screw with the turbo and until I can find a reverse split cam that I like.
how much overlap you showing for that hotcam?

based on your specs I'm seeing -1deg of overlap @ I'm guessing .050 lift, do you consider this alot?

I think you should try it with the lumpy N/A cam first, since it's already installed right? It just might surprise you. I know in smaller engines (VWs) the bigger N/A based cams still let them rev like crazy and reversion really didn't appear to be an issue. They certainly still work better than stock cams..... but then they are VWs!

But then again - part of the turbo's appeal is that you don't have to rev turbo engines to the moon. You just size the turbine/compressor combo to make the power where you want it.

I get 56.25* overlap at .006" of lift. That seems comparable to other cams listed on vinci's site. I have a nice little Excell file going now.

I went conservative on the exhaust A/R sizing, because it is a 4.8 and it will be mounted in the "wrong spot."

56 deg @ .006 might be just fine actually. you might give it a try first an see how she does.

what are you showing for the stock Cam?

Not there yet, I'm playing with reverse splits.

Does anyone have the duration values of the stocker at 0.006" lift?
Overlaps

Edit: Hotcam: 51.5* @0.006"
.....................-1.5* @0.050"
Stocker: -0.5* @.050"
LS6 : -24* @.050"
TR227/224-114: -2.5* @.050"
TR230/224-111: 5* @0.05"
LPE207/220 : 23.5*@0.05"

I'm begining to see that there might not be any need for a reverse split. Hmm...

Now to compound the issue what about keeping the hotcam and sticking some 1.8's or 1.85's on the intake side only, in an effort to equalize the durations?
