Default Cam and Tune or Magnacharge and tune?

First to explain. Magna charger claims that i can get 380whp out of my 5.3L with their tune..? I have also been told that with a decent cam (nothin over a 220/220) and a custome tune I can pull the same numbers. So my question is this. IS this true. If so is it not cheaper to go with a cam and tune then too spend 6g's on a charger?

No chance of 380rwhp on a mild cam, 30-40hp with the cam and tune, MAYBE. Whoever told you that was kidding themselves.

If you want power, definately the blower and tune. Although a mild cam with a blower and tune would be the best

I think you might have misunderstood. With the Magnuson and their stock calibration 380+whp is easy from a stock setup. With the right cam a bit more but you will need 'other' tuning with a cam swap.

The 5.3 with cam and all bolt ons will make ~340 max.

I think another big plus of the magnacharger is the power under the curve, which IMO a CAM only cannot produce, not just the peak...

yep, a blower shoveling almost twice atmospheric pressure down the throat of a 5.3 will make it feel like a 10.6 liter.. no bolt-on will do that.
