Remember, it’s not your typical 5.3L coming in at a 4.065-inch bore x 3.150-inch stroke with CNC ported LS7 heads equipped with Del West 2.200” titanium intake and 1.610” sodium filled exhaust valves. While I’ve not seen an upper ceiling limit on this little fellow, it should be a screamer.

that picture you posted is definately not the same setup that is in the magazine. when i get home later ill take a picture of the page. im thinking they either switched to or from the jackshaft version or one or the other (2.9 4.0) is jackshaft. i forget the exact hp number that its rated at from gm i want to say 650 hahaha. i think they are playing the old school games and rating the car at 3k rpm. the SCJ is making upwards of 900 and they claim the drag pak challenger is 850 NA which i believe they get a weight break for not being forced induction. the really funny one is the 427 NA motor that is rated at 550. i know an ls7 with heads, intake, cam, stock bottom end will make 650 on an engine dyno.
callies does make the bottom end for these and they had these cranks for insanely cheap. they were billet and i want to say going for something like $400, there were some weird things with them though like they didnt have provision for the reluctor wheel but you could find ways around that im sure

*Meanwhile, I've been on the phone with Mike from Whipple and I may be looking at a new route. It's a Camaro based race-inspired blower that is about 6 to 8 months from hitting the streets. It will feature Whipple's new rotor design, be 1 cm shorter than a 4.0 case, and have a front inlet. Oh yeah, did I mention that it will be half a liter larger?

4.0 is a long blower compared to the 3.4L.
To fit the truck even with from inlet. Is gonna be a challenge.
3.4 barely fits. With a single belt. Leaving all things same location add the 4.0 pushes you out past the stock drive a good amount.
Another think is the height. Much taller then the 3.4 the under hood supports might need to be cut depending on year???
