Good idea there as well. What all did you do when you installed the cam?

I was thinking today about maybe holding off a little longer yet on the turbo until I can get the money for a level6-7 60e or 80swap and save the 60e and parts I have for it for my S10.

Are you talking about what all you need to replace when you do a cam swap? Stiffer springs, hardened push rods (7.400" I think), (2) water pump gaskets, NEW crank bolt and timing cover seal.

Since you have another truck to drive I would go the 80e route... it's a little more work but you could probably do it cheaper and not to mention it's stronger.

Well first of all you better get your kit on or you will be as bad as FastNblu was at waiting years to install lol!

Put your turbo kit on, enjoy it , get used to the power , then upgrade from there!

Ex: my first truck here was an 04 Z71 , I put an STS turbo kit on it @5 psi , all stock , fun!
I wanted more , bought an intetrcooler and went up to 10#s . More fun , but burned 3-4 clutches ,
Went to have TJ and Zippy build me a trans . While I was there I also installed a PI vigilante 2800 verter and a comp 212 218 cam . Now it was really getting fun!!

Just install what you have and when you get the itch do more mods , it's more fun and rewarding that way !

Tim, you think the 60e will hold up to 10# (stock cam) with stock stall, 40k cooler, servos, and shift kit? I don't drive this thing like a race car and rarely go WOT on the street. Track runs are always 4WD.

EDIT::: TIM, you better post something soon 6,666 posts is a little wierd hahahaha.

Damn thanks for the heads up bud ! That's not a number I want or need right now lol!

Your right foot determines a lot of your question , but at the least I would install a shift kit and servos , and save up for the 80e , I would try to keep the boost at 5-6 #s and don't do any hard downshifts too often . You might be ok but we can never be sure .

Well the kit came with a 7# and 10# spring so Ill just run off the 7# spring and hold off on a boost controller for now so I don't screw things up lol.

Well I guess I'll stick to my original plans then. Run pretty much what I have for now and get it dialed in. Pick up an 80e after I recoup some money. The 60e I can eventually use for the 6.0 swap I want to do in my S10.

Good plan , I think this route will help ya , but also it doesn't mean if you come across a good deal on a cam or stall not to get it

Damn, I already had my exhaust torn off when UPS was 2 days away from delivering my kit

Go ahead and throw the turbo kit on... I just wouldn't beat on like Tim said

Trust me I keep a good eye on the for sale section, Im always up for a good deal!

I especially don't wanna spend too much on a converter if Im going to have to get a new one down the road to match whatever I do with the little truck.

Only reason I've had the kit so long is I had the money and couldn't pass up on the sale Kyle was running on his kits. I got everything for the intercooled kit, plus wrapped for what some people pay for used kits.
