Default duramax inter cooler install pics.

i forgot i had these pics from my durmax intercooler install. i put it in my silverado.

never did have any cooling problems. it ran 175-180ish with a 160 stat just like it always did. those fans did the job. looking at this makes me wanna do it again. i would change a few things but not a lot.

yep lol. didn't you use the d-max rad too though? i had good cooling though. where your big block didn't like it lol. how well did it do for temps on IAT? I'm thinking if i could get a hold of another one i might do it again. i have more support to mod the cooler before installing it this time.

I heard putting that intercooler on a truck makes it burn down... J/K
So I'd say yours over heated TOO!

HA!!! not funny. but yeah there may be a few things to change if i installed another one. if it works good and cools well then i'd like to use it. i like mine but i don't like how low it sits. but there is no where to put it.

i learned alot on that last install. but no i have access to a aluminum welder so i can make mounts. and i have access to 3000psi SS braided lines so i can relocate the PS cooler if need be.

Yes, I used the Dmax radiator because of the proprietary mounting method used to mate the DMAX radiator and IC together. Not to mention I have about 3-4" less clearance between the radiator and waterpump than the small blocks have. I literally only had the thickness of your hand (1") between the fan and radiator. If I could have kept the engine cool, I may have left it in, but it was just so congested. I had to use an external oil cooler cause the Dmax radiators do not have one intigrated into thier radiators. I had to route the intercooler tubing up and around the top of the blower which made access to the belts and pulley almost impossible without dissasembling everything. But cooling was spectacular!! On a 95* day while cruising, the temps stayed around 100*-102* if i remember correctly.

did you ever try that d-max fan to cool it? i guess my electric fans just pull a ton of air at idle compared to a mechanical at idle. did you have cooling issues while driving at highway speeds or just at idle? must be nice that the IC mounted in your truck haha i had to cut it to fit mine.
