How many people have tried to help you and yet you still bounce around like a bouncy ball in a concrete stair well. Yes, people have been in your shoes, the difference between a smart person and a stupid one is the smart individual is willing to learn from others mistakes. You are not or don't seem to be. Does it make me a ******** to say what most think? Perhaps.....but if I got your attention long enough to make you stop ask yourself what you want, learn, and research each avenue you will thank me. In this very forum in this very section on this very page is enough info to answer your questions and educate you. Now read

This is the best I have seen thus far.. It will work great on a 5.3 and is a really cheap effective way to make HP..

You have probably had issues getting advise because of this...
You come across as someone with VERY little knowledge about the subject.
You said you had $13,000.00 to put into your 06 5.3L silverado and you want it to be stupid fast...
You then said you liked and wanted a 408 ci and wanted to know where to get one.
My advise would be to read and learn about this **** or someone will take your 13K and say...yeah man..heres your parts. thanks bro.
You can have a NASTY 408 with a procharger ot turbo setup that would make a rediculous streetable truck.
There is no "QUICK FIX". Its not a easy answer. You dont simply order ABC engine, turbo, trans and bolt in and go over the weekend. With the goals you stated earlier...its TONS..TONSSSSS of work to go 9's or even 10's and street that ****.
Just read up man.....thats the best advise I can give.

Damnit mangled you stole my idea.
I would personally go with a 370 which is a bored 6.0. Just grab a 6.0 from a junk yard, bore it and put forged parts in it. Get some gears, an flt 4l80 trans, stall, Turbo, Transcooler. IMO 370 is a much more reliable engine than a 408 and doesn't burn as much oil.
However you really really need to study up and learn about what you are wanting to do. Flaco is in the 8's now with a turbo 414 but it took a LOT of work to get past that 9.00. and it's lil sis is right behind it with a 370 smoking procharged corvettes from 75-180mph on the interstate.
When you make power you break parts, drink fuel, and lose traction. So when you put 500hp under the hood you have to get a trans. Then you just sit at the line and smoke off your tires because you don't have any grip so you have to start dumping money into a good suspension setup. Trutrac, Slicks, caltracs.
you're gonna have to do a lot of reading, make a decision. Ask about it to get the goods and bads, and then decide from there if thats what you want to do.
