I'm dating myself but I have a twin brother and back in high school we were big Doobie Brother fans and we were given the nickname the "DOOBS" after the Doobie brothers band (Do be brothers).
NO I'm not a Stoner as some might think the nickname implys. Your the first to ask for clarification......Thanks

the whole "kill your motor faster" part is funny to me. ANY route you go is gonna be hard one things. thats where tuning and proper care come into play. just like nitrous, one guy blows his motor cause he is stupid and now nitrous is the devil of power adders. when other people run it all the time with out issue. figure out what type of power you want and go with it. there is no "right" answer. its all going to be confusing to do. my turbo was done in a day. a very long day but a day. my buddies suppercharger took dayS. so many wires and removal of so many parts. he hates it but thats him. you may love the thing. see if you can ride in some turbo and SC cars and trucks and see what you think. i would turbo the stock motor until you learn whats what and put the other money back. that way if you **** it up and it blows you have that money to now get you a forged motor and learn from your mistakes. that model 5.3 is beef.

I dont think superchargers are gonna kill your motor faster than a turbo. Turbos are not that hard to figure out. Take your time and think about it. Do a search and read read read. There are alot of 5.3's 600hp and thats totally bad ***. Dont rush but figure out what you want and do it right the first time and dont cut corner. You will save money in the long run. If your shooting for a hp number add 75 or 100 to it. Hp is very addictive. I went from stock to around 420 at the wheels and loved if for about 3 days then it just wasnt enough. Now im going more boost bigger injectors more fuel blah blah blah. You get the idea. Figure out how much hp you want and talk to the vendors to see what it would cost to get you there.

Might be able to pick up a used maggie 112 fairly cheap now and start with that. Stock exhaust will work fine and so will the stock cam. A used kit should even include the injectors. The most you would need to do is pull intake manifold and drop on 112 for a quick FI power adder and see how you like that. Should be good for 100+ hp to start with. Check here and on tech as a lot of guys have been selling their 112's and upgrading to the TVS series.

eddie nelson; a stoner is someone who smokes pot all the time.

Not being a dick. But you really need to read and do your research, find out exactly what you want. Not have us build you a combo.. There are ups and down to both set ups blower/turbo.. READ READ READ.. You can make 500 hp with your 5.3 and FI no prob. If you have 13k to dump but a forged 370 short end, put used 317 heads on it, good tune and boost it to the moon..
