Boy, you guys are rough on the stock motors! . Don't you know BOOST is a replacement for displacement, and a 06 5.3 has the good rods in it. I would boost the 5.3 and spend your money on the best tranny you can get. You would be amazed at what you can get out of a stock 5.3 with a good cam, nice turbo and about 15 psi of boost.

I'd still go with turbo, unless your gonna run N2O with that blower. Seems you can only really get about 10-12 psi out of a blower and 6rib belt before you have belt slip problems. A T70 or 76 will get you a nice efficient 15-18 psi of boost and with proper tuning, a stock 5.3 should take that for a while and have a nice table top looking power curve. IF you blow it up, them maybe look for something bigger and forged.

This guy is all over the place with what he wants. Kinda hard to narrow it down for him if he's unsure about what he wants.
For 13K I would buy a tranny for $5K, get some fuel supporting mods for $2K, upgrade the cooling system for $1K, spend $1500 on valve train upgrades and cam, and spend the last $4500K on a turbo system.

yeah if i had to do it again i would start at the *** end of the truck and work forward. trutrac out back at the least. stock g80 doesn't like much power. then a level 7 flt trans with billet parts circle d or yank converter. not a tt3000 but the tc line from yank. then with that model 5.3 turbo that dude. if my 5.3 in a 6020lb tahoe can hit low 12's i'm sure a pickup can do it with ease. fuel sys and heads /cam and you'll be good. had you had a newer model you would already have good heads to start with.
