I can't stress enough how much you need to just read on this site. Gather some basic knowledge first. I'm sure if you paid someone to spec and build this truck up for you, you could just jump into a fast daily driver. With a $13k budget, you could do that. But if you want to do this yourself, you need to learn a lot. If not, just shell out the cash and have someone do it for you.

IMO I would stick with the 5.3l because you can achieve your hp goals with it. It will also be easier on the gas than a bigger cube engine would. A tvs 1900 along with a custom speced cam is very capable of 450hp if done right with other supporting mods. That will be the route I go when money is available...

Dude, you seriously need some basic automotive engine building knowledge before you go dumping thousands of dollars into your truck. People on here are being alot nicer than they should be and offering you VERY good advice. Do some research on how a supercharger and a turbocharger work, find out the differances between a maggie and a procharger. once you know all this type of stuff you will be able to make a decision on your own. Everything you need is right here under search.

I can't stress this enough either...alot of us have been where you are, "A pocket full of cash and a desire to get noticed", and far too often we end up burning through that cash with nothing to show.
Put that fire out from under your pants, search around and find out what it is you want and then ask us some specific questions rather than the generalized ones your asking us now.
