I installed my pump similar to the way Holty did. It's been several years and OK until now. I never got into it hard in 1st or 2nd before with less than 1/2 tank. Now in the past couple of weeks, I uncovered the pump 2 or 3 times, in 2nd gear. It just ran out of gas at about 4000, the truck slows down, the gas sloshes back forward, and it starts running again, just like the GM speed limiter. Except now it sounds like there is a dentist inside of my tank, drilling teeth. I am going with an OEM pump. The only reason I put this one in was because even though my fuel pressure was good, Whipple assured me that the reason their craptronics were opening the bypass was because I didn't have a high-perf pump. I fell for it and butchered my bucket to install this pump. I don't know if I need an added inline, but I am making way more power now. Does the new pump come in a new bucket?

yeh, new oem comes complete. if it costs less than a 100 bucks, it's just the pump itself and not the whole deal.

So, you don't have an inline? once you ditch the intank to go back to oem, if that's all you have you NEED to put something else in there to be fueling 11psi IMO.

Yeah, now that I've thought about it for 33 minutes, I'll be adding an inline. Thanks for the info.

I have been running the OEM pump for almost a year now with the Whipple and have had no fuel problems at all. It stays well above 60psi all the time. A little over 7psi (boost) and maxed out 44lb injectors and the OEM pump is still purring right along. I am entertaining getting an inline soon, no way am i putting one in the tank until they make a direct replacement.

I finally got around to installing my new fuel pump module. Now I can stomp on it with only a quarter tank and it stays running. But I can't stay on the gas because it goes dangerously lean over 3600 rpm when above 175 kPa boost. After I get the inline installed, I'll have the best of both pumps: the ability to drive like an idiot punk at any fuel level (I couldn't nail it below a third of a tank before), and the ability to rev it out. You must have an exceptional pump, W'pled 496.

I put a gauge on and went for a drive today. It idles at 45psi, and is about 50 at cruise. I guess that explains why cruise went from about 14.8:1 AFR to about 15.8. I watched as power dropped in the 3500 rpm range, the pressure fell. I was afraid and let off the pedal when the pressure got below 40. I'll be driving like Grandpa MikeGyver until I get an inline pump installed. I don't know why I feel compelled to report this, maybe it is to confirm what Dewey said, and dispute what Holty says, since I couldn't get on it with low fuel level before.

i've driven my truck with only 1.5 gallons of fuel left in the whole 26 gallon tank and i did not lose any pressure, although i NEVER attempted to go WOT.

That's my goal in everything I do to this truck, is to make it so I can loan it to my brother-in-law or whoever, and the only instructions I need to give are "Try not to smoke the tires", instead of "If the methanol is low, don't give it more than 50% throttle, and if the intercooler pump stops, no WOT, or if the fuel level gets low, ease it away from the stoplight." I still worry about having electric fans, and try to comfort myself by thinking that as long as the factorys have been using them, they should be reliable by now.
