Be that as it may, it will come true.....and sooner than you think.

And yes it does suck.
How far will they dig though besides checking the tune matches the vehicle and that all of the components are there? I doubt they would pay for a system to install in every smog test station to log or monitor serial data or even specific sensor readings. The cost to get this into every shop in cali and to make a system that would require more updating than the smog systems themselves. Plus every technician would have to be trained and DMV would have to have regulations on what can and cant be done. Not to mention this would cost so much money that the in debt california govt would probably not spring for it. Unless this is coming from Federal money with backing from the same.

Fed moneys is everyones money. If they think they can pull it off and collect more funds they will try.
What ever ruling there us it's simple to get around.

Do they check all of you guys emissions when you go to get your inspection sticker?

Where I live, we dont have any of the emissions checks. They check my blinkers, windshield and headlights. Thats IT!

A weekend spent getting everything back to normal, and another getting it back to where I had it before.

In SoCal they require a vehicle to smog every two years. You are required depending on the vehicle to do a roller test (dyno) to measure emissions out put as well as a computer systme check for readiness tests being complete, a evap and gas cap test. In addition to that they visually inspect for modifications and if they see and you are required to prove they are CARB approved by providing the paperwork for the mod or have the sticker affixed in the engine bay. Failure in any of these areas is a fail.

NOW, this is mostly technicians discretion. Some let things go that others pass.....

Mtrhd329 X2 I just did my test in Calif. P1@11# with meth passed. I think most FI trucks are cleaner then stock at 2500rpm because of the tune is better then stock.
I wan't to try LT headers with high flow cats next..

Wentbig: How are you going to get around the visual with the LT's??

I know that they will not be able to see much on the rollers with me tuning it! I ran the numbers in my 79 with the LM7 and with the old 350 and it is almost half the emissions with the LM7.
