front mount turbo sizing
Ok all I have searched and tried to understand the turbos but seems there is quite a bit to understand.
This will all be going into my 1968 Chevy pickup. I converted to a 5.3 a few years back before it became so popular. I have built and done everything on this truck myself over the last 20 plus years so it is my toy so to speak. I have done the full hot rod power tour twice in it so I do drive it quite a bit but also my weekend warrior at our local track.
I have acquired a front mount "kit" that am not sure if it will all fit but will eventually try. The kit appears to match what Kyle is building and has an FMIC.
The big question is the turbo I understood it is an STS Garret 67 mm turbo. The markings on this on the compressor side is marked .60 A/R and the hot side is .81 A/R. Is that enough to tell what I have? Now that I have it it looks small compared to others. The compressor outlet is 2 inches. So will this work as a front mount or should I go different?
I have never driven a turbo v8 before so I am in the learning process.
I found this https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=397444 during my search i know it is old but looks about the same as where I am going and have.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
Im sure I will have a ton more questions.

^^^ The beginning of KB Racing turbo kits!!! And that kit is STILL in service on another truck!
The turbo you have should work ok, just depends on how much power you want to make. Measure the inducer (down in the the inlet of the compressor, the small side of the wheel) and that will tell you what size it is.

It depends on how much power you want to make. That turbo will make 450-500 max, but it will spool super fast. a T70 will be good for 550+ if you want to push it that far. Just depends on your power goal.

I like the super fast spool part I think... lol
The power goals are hard to say as I like to drive this so I didnt want to go to big, years ago when I had my 327 in I stuck a pretty big cam in and things seemed a bit mismatched and it was a dog, jump ahead now and things run good I just didnt want to go too big (if that is possible)
I am not sure what will fit, my AC box is about where the exhaust needs to run but I need to pull my headers off adn see what will fit. I am about ready to do some rear suspension work so maybe I can start seeing what this will take. I will need injectors and maybe different piping. since it is all "custom" on here anyway we will see...
Thanks again
