Fuel line upgrades: stainless, nylon braided, push/twist lock?
Hey guys,
I figured that most of you (us) with F/I are running larger fuel systems (compared to stock) I wanted to ask what fuel lines you are running.
Joe @ LC32 showed me the better-than-Russell fitting (larger) that is 3/8" quick connect to -8 AN female.
So I need to run a few new -8 AN lines. I have been advised to do so in stainless and as a Edelbrock/Russell distributor I try to stick with their parts.
So, the Russell twist-lok stuff seems to go together easily (not so much the last 25%) but no stainless acupuncture....and to my knowledge it is now NHRA approved.
Same with ProClassic black nylon braided hose (NHRA)...a lot easier to work (no blood) with than stainless and do not rub/kill whatever it touches.
Now I know Joe (LC32) does that slick heat-shrink over the stainless lines and that is pretty bad ***...however I'm just wondering this:
Is anyone on here running fuel line (legally) that is NOT stainless?
Any insight appreciated!
-Mike

just thinking. i know jegs and summit sell rolls of aluminum tubing advertised as fuel line. there are also compression an fittings that would allow use of this tube. as far as it being legal im not sure but it is a hell of a lot cheaper. thinking of doing this for trans cooler

I run aluminum line with tube nuts/sleeves flared onto the ends on pretty much every project I do. nuts here: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-220833-2/
These make fuel systems extremely easy, cheap and basically fool-proof.
I am not a big fan of braided stainless line at all from the looks to the difficulty of putting the fittings on the ends. Always fight those damn things lol.
Also you have to be careful and make sure the braided line you are buying is rated for gasoline... many are not and will deteriorate over time.

no way in hell this motor will burn more than 2 walbro 255s can pump through a stock line! LOL.
im using the stock feed line , with a 1/2" goodyear rubber hose as the return line, it serves its purpose and it will do the job just fine. no need for braided line here
