Default FYI, NEW Billet TRUCK 90mm Throttle Body is coming!

FYI, for those interested... there is a new billet 90mm truck throttle body with a parabolic designed bore on the horizon. Several weeks ago I purchased and shipped a brand new (4.8, 5.3, 6.0 03-07(classic)) stock truck throttle body from GM to Nick Williams. I asked him to scope out work on a billet 90mm TRUCK throttle body with the standard 3 bolt and larger 4 bolt mounting pattern using the factory gears, springs, and electronics. I am happy to report that Nick has said he will build the throttle body. He is currently working on the CAD drawing and sourcing the springs and gears. I think the plan is to build a throttle body where all the consumer has to do is transfer the electronics over... kinda like what you would need to do if you purchased a BBK throttle body. To do this will require Nick to source the springs and gears. Nick and I also discussed perhaps an exchange program where the consumer would provide a working and undamaged core then he would swap everything over and return it in a condition to where the consumer needs only to bolt it on and go. I think this option is still fluid right now and will depend on how difficult it is to source parts along with getting a good price on them. Goal is to not have to have the consumer worry about TO AND FROM shipping costs. It may be an option anyway... I guess it will depend on what YOU guys want.
So, how much will this throttle body cost? When will it be available? Who can you purchase from? Are there pics available? Right now the cost is still being worked out because Nick is not done sourcing the parts. This is EARLY in the design stage folks. Patience will need to be exercised. I am announcing this product now to get the ball rolling on interest... and allow guys planning for more power to have another option. I post this information here in the Forced Induction section because I believe it is us blown and turbo guys that will benefit the most from this new product. Big cube NA guys will CERTAINLY benefit as well. I am hopeful to have a Preproduction piece by early January. I would hope there will be several Preproduction pieces in testing at that time. If it works then Nick just needs to load up the CNC machine and hit GO. I will post pics when they are available. I encourage those interested to contact your favorite FORUM VENDOR and express interest. Point them to this thread!!! Chances are there are already several FORUM VENDORS that do business with Nick. It is my intention to push this product through FORUM VENDORS... Nick's vendors. I will not be selling these throttle body's... forum vendors will. When I have updates on availability and pricing so should the forum vendors... and I encourage them to jump on this thread, express interest, provide feedback, and let everybody know price and availability when the time comes.

So guys, what do you think?

Bill

what would be cool for us guys that can tune ourselves, is if he could give us a ball park on what we need to change in the tune to get a "basic" setting for the tune to optimize the tb. other than that sounds great hope it works out.

Thats the question I want to answer too. I want to put my original foot pedal and TAC back in, bolt this thing on, and see how it reacts. My hope is to get my throttle repsonse and tranny shift points back to where they are supposed to be. If I get more of a throttle response and a little more top end well then its gravy.

I guess from my point of view it would be a cost decision. Would I pay for the cost of the new unit to gain the extra bit of TB movement I don't have now. It would be nice appearance upgrade and engine bay clean up.

Interested non the less.

Sounds cool, but I'd rather see someone come up with the 90mm TB fix to allow the TB to open 100% without current issues. Plug-N-play and some tuning fix that is.
Other than that, it great for the guys who just want to show some shine under the hood.
