I'm want to get boost, fuel pressure & trans temp gauges for my Roush tvs1900 install. Which ones are everyone running, mechanical or electric? What's the difference between them, reliability or what?

Electric seem to be 2-3 times more expensive, at least Autometer ones.

boost is no problem being mechanical. if you have a leak.. its air. on the other hand things like fuel, oil, nitrous, i would get them electric because i dont want that stuff coming inside the cab. i know to many people that had oily floor mats from a leak. they do make isolators that use some other liquid between what would be the sender and the gauge but after you buy that you might as well just go electric all together. autometers are expensive with the pressure gauges but keep an eye on ebay. i picked up brand new autometer pressure gauge from a nascar team for 100 bucks. also the senders are the same for the 100psi pressure gauges so if you find something dumb like water pressure which no one would really want and the price be low you could use that. just read past water being on the face

Not to mention that if you have mechanical fuel pressure inside the cab, you aren't allowed to run at the track

I run mechanical autometers, but only for boost.

Good info, thanks. I'll get mechanical vacuum/boost to keep the cost down & electric fuel press/trans temp then.

i run electrical boost, trans temp, water temp, egt, fuel level for fuel cell, and lastly a wideband..

i too wondered the diffrence, seems both are good in diffrent ways, electrical i guess the sensor can go bad, but mechanical involves using a lot more lines and tubing inside the cab and take longer to install..

unless you have a nice cowl hood to run a mechanical oil or fuel , i would opt for a electric!

Thanks guys, I guess it's worth to get the electrics just to avoid the hassle of install.

Auto meters add up quickly and I'm trying to keep cost down if/when possible, what other brand is good? Prosport gauges?
