From what I've read over the years, wrapping the hot side will shorten spool time and obvoiulsy decrease underhood temps. I'm running SS pipes so i'm not worried about the possible deterioration issues tha tpeolpe may have with mild steel pipies. I picked up some DEI Titanium wrap header wrap and two Titanium Turbo beanies. Not cheap but I have heard nothing but good reveiws on this new line. They use imbedded lave rock as one of the thermal barriers. Waiting to install the new shortblock before I put on the wrap. I'll post some pictures once it's installed.

I wraped my old sts right after I got it in 05. I was a bit scared of what I might find when I unwraped it three and a half years later. to my supprize all the pipe held up really well for a daily drive that sees snow....

Dusty did you use the regular cloth wrap or was it the sticky stuff that adheres and protects the pipe? Mine didn't look too bad either when I unwrapped it but for sitting in Cali weather for 2 years I thought it would of looked a little better.

The old stuff would rot away, but it was not stainless. When the wrap would get wet moisture would set and rust the pipe away. Wrapping pipes will short their life span but how much too many variables. The heat held in making the pipe itself hotter will also shorten its life. You will probably get tired of the truck before you run into any issues.
Make sure when you wrap it to wet the wrap down a little, and then pull it tight as you can. Then once it drys it will even get tigher making for a clean install.
