Question How hard would it be to boost control a centri blower

I have heard of it being done, but never could find the write up on it damn it. I would be curious to see how, what is exactly involved to do it.. Whats your input on this. Would it even be worth doing??

I talked about doing this with someone one time. I believe you would have to use a wategate on the charge pipe to re-dirct the air after the blower. The wastegate will modulate the amount that is bypassed to maintain a set boost level, the same way it does for a turbo on the exhaust side.

I talked to the guys at the local performance shop about this, because I was interested in doing this with my P1. I believe they call it overdriving the blower, it can be done the way stoichiometric said but you create a lot of heat. There comes a point when you are just pumping hot air into the engine. Guess if you could manage the temps it would work. Also, seems like it would put extra stress on the head unit. I don't know really.

I am no authority here just relaying the info I got from the shop.

I would not recirculate the air, dump it under the hood before the intercooler. The restrictor plates seem like they would create more heat.

No more heat, I wouldn't think. As far as over driving it would work the same way it does now, only you could run a bigger(psi) smaller in size pulley for more boost from idle, it would only limit it to what you have the controller set at. Example. If you put a 15 lb pulley on it, it will make more boost sooner in the rpm range, so instead of seing it up top where we see it now you would see it much sooner. The controller would be set to lets say 10psi, so you would be in boost sooner, be limited to 10psi by the controller, make sense Could be off but....

Exactly, I would try this if I had a centri. If it doesn't work the you can use the wastegate when you buy a turbo.

I see what you are saying about the heat and the overdriving. I was just going on what the guys from the shop were saying. I think it would really help us that have centri's get a little more power down low, sooner.

Go for it John and let me know how it works. I've been wanting to do this as well. Don't you have a p1 too?

I thought about this some more today. If you can find/build a large enough spring pressure release valve that might also work.
